By Ranjit Mishra:

According to me, learning Martial arts is a life time journey of a student in exploring ourselves and our spirit. I am not against any kind of Martial art style. Because every Martial art style teaches you something. Whether it is sport based Martial art or Street based Martial arts. Every style has it’s own importance. I am just trying to find my way, My Kung Fu, My fighting style. I am just trying to find my style which can be applied in sports as well as on streets.

I remember why I have started learning Martial arts. I was so fascinated by movies. I wanted to do the same type of moves/ stunts as done by Bruce Lee, Jet Li, Jacky Chan, etc. But my first choice of learning Martial arts was to defend myself from bullies/ enemies. But I was very surprised after so many years of learning. My very first surprise was that Outer Enemy is not a big enemy. We all have a bigger enemy, which is inside us. If this inner enemy can be defeated, then rarely any outer enemy exist.

As Lord Budha says- “It is better to conquer yourself than to win thousand battles. Then the victory is yours. It cannot be taken from you, not by angels or by demons, heaven or hell”.

Like most of the guys, I am big fan of Bruce Lee and his philosophy’s. The Bruce Lee’s philosophy is best suited to today’s Modern Martial arts. One of them is

“All fixed set patterns are incapable of adaptability or pliability. The truth is outside of all fixed patterns

So My Kung Fu do not have any forms and Kata's because they are not so practical when it comes to real combat situations.

Now I want to write few lines about my Guru’s.

I have four Guru’s in my life.

  • Guru Mahadeva- My very first Guru is my Shiva (My Soul). He taught me a lot of lessons in life. He is the only one who is showing me a right path. He is the only one because of which I have learnt very hard lessons of life which is really difficult to be known. He is Lord Buddha, Lord Allah, Lord Krishna, Lord Jesus, Lord Guru Nanak in a physical form. Initially, I thought that he has a physical form. But he taught me something different. Now I know that he does not have any physical form. He is formless. He is my faith, my breath, my mind, my heart, My Soul. He is in you, he is everywhere. He is Shunya (Zero), He is infinity. He is the Parbrahma who has no shape, no boundries, which cannot be expressed in words.

  • Guru Murugan- I have learnt from a lot of Coaches. However learning from Guru Murugan is one of my best experience of life. I am learning Kalaripayattu from him. I think he is the most knowledgeable person I have ever met in my life. He is a trained Kalaripyattu and Marma Massage and Ayurvedic Doctor. We, people of Delhi are lucky to have such a knowledgeable guru and doctor.
  • Kru Narendra Kumar: He is a best All India National coach and a Muay Thai Warrior. I am training under him and his trainees/coaches to increase my knowledge about this beautiful and deadly sport.
  • My Michael Sir (Shaolin Kung Fu and Karate expert) - He is my best teacher and a martial artist who is trying, desperately, so much to defeat his inner enemy. He is more focused on spiritual aspects of Martial arts. Although we were together (Physically) for short period of time, but he is a teacher with whom I am inspired the most. The best thing that I have learnt from him is “Empty your Mind when learning anything new”. Also he taught me the politeness of Kung Fu artist. I think he took away my ego. I am still learning the spiritual aspects of Martial arts from him.

Special Thanks to my other teacher’s.

  • Mr. Santosh- I learnt some Kung Fu from him. And also a very important lesson that nothing is in our hands. We are just a puppet in front of the                 situations. But whatever happens, happens for good.

  • Mr. Sandeep Rao- I learnt Muay Thai from him because of which my confidence raised up to a new level.

I just want to repeat few Sant Kabir Dohas for My Guru’s.

“Guru ko kije bandagi, koti koti paranam;

Kit na jane bhring ko, guru karle ap saman”.

Meaning- Offer salutations and obeisances to the Guru millions of times. Just as a wasp takes a worm into its nest and another wasp emerges, just so Guru makes the ordinary disciple as himself.

“Guru Brahma, Guru Vishnu, Guru Devo Maheshwara,

Guru Saakshaat Parbrahma, Tasmae Shri Namo Namah”

Meaning- Guru is Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva. Guru is a supreme Lord. I bow my head to my Guru.
